Notre Corps
In her impressive documentary, Claire Simon takes a careful look around a gynaecological clinic in Paris; she brings together scenes of births and cancer diagnoses, of consultations on endometriosis and hormone therapy for an older trans woman.
The result is an initially observational, later increasingly personal film about what it means to live in a female body, and at the same time a wonderful example of the power of documentary cinema. NOTRE CORPS brings together experiences that you might think you are alone in; it makes structures visible where you think hardships are individual; it shows how much things you don't dare to talk about have a social dimension and need to be discussed.
