Nosferatu
Newly married businessman Thomas Hutter is sent to faraway Transylvania by his boss Mr Knock. A mysterious count named Orlok, who lives in a castle, wants to buy an estate in the German town of Wisborg - the same place where Hutter and his wife Ellen live. Although Ellen asks her husband not to make the journey, Thomas sets off for Transylvania anyway.
The worried Ellen is placed in the care of Thomas' good friend Friedrich Harding and his wife Anna. However, it is not long before Thomas curses the mission he has undertaken. At Orlok Castle, he experiences the horror. What the pitiful man does not yet know is that Orlok is inexplicably linked to Ellen. When Ellen begins to feel the impending doom more and more in her own body, this calls Swiss professor Albin Eberhart von Franz onto the scene...
In his new film NOSFERATU, Robert Eggers, the director of THE VVITCH (2015), THE LIGHTHOUSE (2019) and THE NORTHMAN (2022), retells the classic Gothic story about the mystical figure of Nosferatu, which unfolds between the young woman Ellen Hutter in 19th century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire who haunts her and casts his diabolical spell over her.
Eggers revives Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau's gruesome silent film classic, a story of obsession whose all-consuming passion unleashes unimaginable horror.
