Night Moves

Basically, Josh, Dena and Harmon are a bit of bitter eco-freaks, self-proclaimed conservationists and defenders of a healthy and undestroyed world. But that's not enough, it doesn't help against the big bad. So they decide on an act of terroristic revenge against the destroyers of nature and set off a powerful beacon. Kelly Reichardt: ‘When I notice that a film is trying to transfer emotions to me via the music, for example, then I switch off. I simply believe that it's better when a film challenges your own ideas. On a subconscious level at least, you always know where the stories are supposed to take you, and in genre cinema this is even stronger. This expectation, this knowledge, has to be torn down and dismantled.’
