Nichts als Katastrophen

The first half of this programme takes us into the kitchen, a place that exemplifies the role women have been assigned in society for so long. Here, maids, cooks and housemaids break out of their traditional roles: they go on strike for better working conditions and even poison their biscuits! But even outside the home, these women cause a stir in public. Smoking and drinking on horse-drawn carriages, they emulate their husbands or challenge the mistress of an unfaithful husband to a duel, as in RIVALINDER: Three dead in one minute – strong stuff for a film from 1906!
