Niagara
Newlyweds Polly and Ray Cutler are spending their honeymoon in a motel in Niagara Falls. There they meet another couple: Rose and her husband George, who is recovering from his traumatic experiences in the Korean War. While Rose pretends to be the caring wife, Polly accidentally observes her having a secret tête-à-tête with a stranger ... There are two natural phenomena to marvel at in NIAGARA: the magnificent backdrops, bathed in intoxicating Technicolor, and the monumental Marilyn Monroe in her first leading role - cast against the grain as a Freudian, dark femme fatale. No wonder François Truffaut exclaimed in the face of this screen presence: ‘How could you ever resist a film starring her?’ (Florian Widegger)
