New Nightmare
In the seventh instalment, Wes Craven, the creator of the horror series, not only returned to the director's chair, but also played an important role as an actor. In the fictional reality of ‘New Nightmare’, he and the stars of Elm Street, Heather Langenkamp (who plays Nancy Thompson) and Robert Englund (Freddy), play themselves. The films in the ‘Nightmare’ series have captured the ‘real’ Freddy Krueger in fiction, but it has been quite some time since the popular pizza face last appeared on screen, and the film character is pushing to become reality. After Freddy manages to escape into the real world, Craven explains to his leading actress Langenkamp that she must play the role of Nancy one last time to defeat the monster once and for all.
