Lino Brocka (1939-1991) is arguably the most important Filipino filmmaker, recognised at home and abroad for "world cinema" classics of the 1970s such as WEIGHED BUT FOUND WANTING, MANILA IN THE CLAWS OF LIGHT and INSIANG. Khavn's homage to this still too little-known artist, who is now considered a national hero, perfectly captures the wild, subversive spirit of Brocka - and compiles decomposing images from Brocka's films into a cinematic maelstrom that honours his source of inspiration. Khavn: "Put all Brocka films in a concrete bin. Let the dead man speak in intertitles. What if Brocka had glowed for Bra-khage, Frampton, Anger? Did Brocka really die in a car crash?
