Because his success as a writer fails to materialise, Bill Lee hires himself out as an exterminator and numbs his frustration with drugs. Drugged up, he shoots his wife while playing William Tell and escapes into a nightmarish alternative universe populated by talking giant beetles and other strange little animals ... The original was actually considered unfilmable until Cronenberg dared to experiment. Bizarre, disturbing and absolutely trippy!
