But since children of this age cannot yet think abstractly, Roza thinks concretely about the language loss she hears about and becomes frightened. She fears that her language will also be lost and that she will become speechless. After hearing these things, she asks her mother questions about language loss, and the answers she receives reinforce her fear. She thinks about it and hears news on the same topic on the radio.
