Nachtblende presents NACHTBLENDE! The film that gave the film series its name has finally found the right setting in which to be shown. However, it is not necessarily representative of the programme. Instead of the horror film genre, as in Żuławski's legendary POSSESSION, the Polish director devotes himself here even more than usual to melodrama. But don't worry: NACHTBLENDE is definitely crazy enough for Nachtblende.

Photographer Servais Mont (Fabio Testi) falls in love with unsuccessful actress Nadine Chevalier (the fabulous Romy Schneider), who seeks his company despite being married to the mentally unstable Jacques Chevalier (Jacques Dutronc). The husband is friendly at first, but watches the two suspiciously. To win Nadine's heart, Servais secretly finances a play by an eccentric director and demands in return that she be allowed to play the leading role alongside Karl-Heinz Zimmer (Klaus Kinski). But after the disastrous premiere, not only the production but also the fragile love triangle inevitably descends into tragedy...
