Moral

FromWILLI WOLFF

WithELLEN RICHTER, JAKOB TIEDTKE, RALPH ARTHUR ROBERTS

Year1928

Duration81min.

Thwarting the dominant morals is always on the agenda of militant women. In this story, Ninon, the leader of a dance troupe, is troubled by the ideas of a morality organisation. The guardians of morality in a small town want to prevent the performers from appearing, as the revue performances seem too pernicious to them. But it soon becomes clear that behind their strictness, the gentlemen are making advances to Ninon and thus proving their double standards. The star secretly takes film footage and actively throws her own glances at the men. Vienna-born Ellen Richter shines in her role as a quick-witted artist who defends herself against patriarchal notions - "a snappy satire full of situation comedy and dynamism" (Arsenal).
