Paris in the 1930s. When young Charles takes part in a play for a few coins, he discovers his talent for the stage and decides to become a singer. The odds are stacked against him: with no money, as the son of Armenian immigrants, and with an unusual voice, no one believes in his success. Driven by relentless ambition, Charles spares no effort or risk—and when chanson icon Édith Piaf takes notice of him, fame suddenly seems within reach.
