Mods-Trilogie: Dom kallar oss mods (Sie nennen uns Mods)

A wild (hurdle) race between two young outsiders, past department stores' windows, through the centre of the pedestrian zone. Curtain up for Stoffe and Kenta, who with their long hair and tight trousers want to be everything except "Svenssons" (or: philistines). The first feature-length film by Stefan Jarl, a graduate of the Stockholm Film Academy, intersperses scenes of excessive everyday life with calm, attentive interviews with young men (and one woman). Stoffe, Kenta and others from their environment give an insight into the survival strategies and pleasures of those who have had little from home except experiences with alcohol, neglect and violence, and who also feel abandoned by the bureaucrats of the Swedish welfare state. The tone - outside - is detached, rough, ruthless, semi-despicable towards women. And inside, it's completely different when someone, removed from everyday life, stands in front of the mirror until their hair is just right. (M. B. / N. K. / I. R.)
