Mit Hasan in Gaza
Recently, Kamal Aljafari, a Palestinian director based in Berlin, discovered three MiniDV tapes in his archive documenting life in Gaza in 2001. This footage serves as a testament to a place and an era that no longer exist in this form. What began as a search for a prison acquaintance from 1989—a man who was lost in the turmoil of the times—turned into an unexpected road trip from the north to the south of Gaza, with Hasan, a local guide whose fate remains unknown today. As the camera travels through the streets and landscapes of Gaza, it captures fleeting moments of everyday life—fragments of a reality that has irrevocably changed to this day. WITH HASAN IN GAZA transforms this forgotten footage into a cinematic reflection on memory, loss, the passage of time, and people who may never be found again.
