Mio mein Mio

"Mio, my Mio" is based on the children's book of the same name by Astrid Lindgren.
Nine-year-old orphan Bosse (Nick Pickard) is unhappy. He wants a father who will treat him well, but his foster parents are very dismissive of him. Nobody knows where his real father is. Then Boss's life changes radically when he frees a genie. It takes him to a fantastic fairytale land where his father is king (Timothy Bottoms). Together with his friend Jum-Jum (Christian Bale), Bosse - who is called Mio here - experiences an adventure, just as he has longed for in his lonely hours. The nasty knight Kato (Christopher Lee) is threatening the kingdom by kidnapping children. Mio and Jum-Jum set off to put an end to the evil goings-on...
