Duration115min.

Lee Isaac Chung's fourth film is an empathetically told story of a family of Korean descent who move from Los Angeles to Arkansas in the 1980s and want to fulfil their American dream on a small farm. When the incredibly loving grandmother Soon-Ja leaves Korea to join her family in the USA, their lives are turned upside down. Grandma Soon-Ja finds a close confidant in her grandson David, who is as bright as he is rebellious. Together, grandmother and grandson manage to forge new bonds between the family members and pave the way for a hopeful future together.

With his journey through two different cultures, director Lee Isaac Chung creates a tender, deeply human film about the challenge of reconciling cultural and familial roots with the search for one's own identity. MINARI is a parable about different generations living together, American pioneering spirit, the courage to overcome resistance and what really makes a home.
