Memoria Implacable

FromPaula Rodríguez Sickert

Year2024

Duration93min.

LanguageSpanish

In a Berlin archive, Margarita Canio comes across unpublished visual and audio material by ethnologist Robert Lehmann-Nitsche. Canio follows the traces of the records of the prisoner of war Katrülaf, who was deported by the Argentinian government during the genocide of the Mapuche. She travels to the places where Katrülaf was deported. Coming to terms with history opens up wounds, but also enables healing and self-empowerment.

In MEMORIA IMPLACABLE, the attempt to restore collective memory becomes an act of resistance. The recovery of memory, knowledge, language and connection to the country opposes the continuity of colonial violence that is perpetuated in European museums.
