Two young couples leave their home countries in the hope of a better life. Melinda and Nik cross the Adriatic from Albania to Italy by boat, while Vera and Marko want to leave Serbia by train. Their destination is Vienna, where the talented cellist wants to take up an offer of an engagement with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. But their journey ends at the Hungarian border. Due to an incident in Kosovo, where both couples come from, they are arrested and detained at the border station. The Albanians fare even worse in the harbour of Bari. The authors of the first Serbian-Albanian co-production tell the stories of the two couples in parallel. They do not meet, but share a similar fate. We experience two separate, highly emotional Balkan weddings as preludes to failed plans for the future.
