Me and you and everyone we know
Christine, a lonely artist, channels her hopes and desires into her artwork while earning a living as a taxi driver.
One day, she meets Richard, a shoe salesman and recently single father of two sons. But as the two grow closer, Richard panics. Meanwhile, his six-year-old son Robby begins an online friendship with an older woman, while Robby's fourteen-year-old brother Peter serves as a guinea pig for the neighborhood girls, who use him to prepare for future romances.
In Miranda July's world, the mundane becomes transcendent, and average people become radiant characters who express their most secret thoughts, follow their inner impulses, and experience moments that sometimes border on the surreal. Through winding paths, they search for belonging and find fulfillment in those brief moments that connect them to someone else in this world.
With her promising feature film debut Me and You and Everyone We Know, multimedia and performance artist July makes the leap to feature film directing, and she does so with astonishing skill and creative vision: Me and You and Everyone We Know is a poetic and at the same time astute study of how people in an isolated contemporary world struggle with each other and at the same time build relationships with each other.
