Mavka – Hüterin des Waldes

The vast Ukrainian forests are full of secrets. Wondrous beings live in harmony with nature under the protection of the trees. Mavka is the young soul of the forest - delicate, gentle and kind. Everyone is astonished when the chief forest spirits choose the petite Mavka, of all people, as their new guardian to protect the kingdom of nature and the magical life source - the heart of the forest - from humans. The forest dwellers do not yet suspect how close their young guardian already is to the humans: the likeable village boy Lukas has enchanted Mavka's heart with his wonderful music. And Lukas has also fallen in love with the adorable forest creature. But disaster is approaching. The selfish Kilina is determined to get hold of the magical life source. Kilina stirs up fear and anger between the simple villagers and the shy forest creatures. Mavka is faced with an impossible decision: she must choose between her love for Lukas and her duty as a guardian of the forest.
