Marketa Lazarová

Mikolas and his brother Adam are rogues who rob and hold up travelers for their tyrannical father Kozlík. During one robbery they take a young German hostage. But his father escapes and reports the terrible robbery to the king. Kozlík sends Mikolas to put pressure on his neighbor Lazar and win him as an ally for the upcoming war of retaliation. However, since Lazar cannot be persuaded, Mikolas, driven by revenge, unceremoniously kidnaps Lazar's daughter Marketa. Meanwhile, the king's captain is already pursuing Kozlík.
