Manželské etudy: Nová generace (Marriage Stories: New Generation)

The end of the long-term documentary is by definition temporary. In the case of the filming of Manželské etudy (Marriage Etudes), which began in 1981, has cult status in the Czech Republic and is regularly shown on television, Helena Třeštíková handed over the season to her daughter, who had already appeared as a producer of her films, after around a dozen television and cinema films. Hana Třeštíková, born in 1982, is as old as the long-term documentary itself. In 2012, following the example of the first series, she began filming six couples after their wedding ceremony at the Prague registry office. In 2019, she presented the couples in five films lasting just under an hour on Czech television; the sixth couple, Mirka and Kuba, can also be seen in a 93-minute movie version. With Manželské etudy: Nová Generace, she is bringing the popular format, which for Czech viewers is closely linked to the period of "Normalisace" (normalization), into the present - and into the future: further filming is planned.
