Celebrity cameos have a long tradition in wrestling — from Muhammad Ali to Jon Stewart to Kim Kardashian, pretty much the entire A-list has danced around the ring at least once to give their respective personas a slight PR boost towards greater approachability. There are also more celebrities who wrestle (actually quite well) than common sense would suggest: First and foremost, for example, David Arquette, Bad Bunny, Action Bronson and, most recently, Paul Walter Hauser (from Black Bird, Naked Gun and The Fantastic Four: First Steps).
But they all stand in the shadow of a man who understood the essence of show business like no other and pushed the boundaries of his kayfabe universe to the limit: the great genre-bending Andy Kaufman.
