Man in the Dark
Steve Rawley (Edmond O'Brien) is imprisoned for a robbery, the loot of which he has hidden. Brain surgery as an experimental therapy is supposed to remove his “criminal element” and secure his release - the side effect: total amnesia. When members of his gang kidnap Steve in order to get their hands on the loot, he reacts with helplessness ... Man in the Dark was one of the first 3D productions of the 1950s: the underrated veteran Lew Landers used the opportunity to make all kinds of things whizz into the faces of the audience - literally from A (like rollercoaster) to Z (like cigar). But the result also impresses in two dimensions as a classic little noir, at the center of which is a typical dream sequence that leads to the hideout in the neighboring amusement park: In Steve's bizarre nightmare, he is chased by shooting policemen all the way to the Autodrome.
