Malqueridas

Malqueridas – the Unloved portrays female prisoners in a correctional facility in Chile, many of whom are mothers separated from their children. Some of these children were born during their mothers' incarceration and now live with relatives or in institutions. The documentary relies on images secretly captured with smuggled mobile phones. It reveals the profound daily life and mutual solidarity of these women, living in a system that incarcerates poverty. Their stories, combined with occasionally abstract images, create a hypnotic pull that captivates the viewer.
