Being a woman in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, is life-threatening. The city is globally known for violence, drug cartels, and femicides. LUCHADORAS is an intimate portrait of courageous women who fight for control over the image of women in Mexico amidst a culture dominated by machismo. Lady Candy, Mini Sirenita, and Baby Star are part of a global empowerment movement—both in their daily lives and in the ring of traditional Mexican Lucha Libre. They prove that anyone who confronts their fears and those who instill them can become the heroine of her own story.
