Living Labour exposes the secluded existence of migrant workers confined to prefabricated housing settlements in the Netherlands. Behind façades that evoke vacation resorts lies a controlled environment where employment agencies impose constant surveillance. Amid silent forests and surrounded by highways and sprawling logistics centers, Poles, Spaniards, and Roma endure lives of enforced isolation. Yet, glimmers of defiance surface as some manage to slip free from the agencies’ grip—these are brief but powerful acts of rebellion in a landscape marked by control and loneliness.
