As tomboy Annie, Mary Pickford leads a gang of youths and falls in love with the leader of the rival gang. Her father, a policeman, is particularly critical of the rebellious behaviour - and the harmless game soon turns deadly serious ... Pickford had become world-famous in her portrayal of teenage girls and, at the request of her fans, as a 33-year-old she once again plays a youthful role in which she defies rigid gender conventions: "She ain't no girl ... she's a wildcat!"
