Le charme discret de la bourgeoisie
Don Luis B. invites a fine company to dinner - but something keeps getting in the way of his guests, making it impossible for the gentlemen and ladies to dine together. Sometimes the chef of an obscure village restaurant dies, sometimes soldiers march in, sometimes the police take them into custody just as they are about to raise their glasses. And at the end ... No, of course we won't give that away at this point. Once again, the old master combines surrealism with biting social criticism, mocks the bourgeoisie's addiction to pleasure and, in a wild mix of comedy and horror film, tackles his favourite subject: thwarted obsession. Along the way, he reveals the secret of the correct preparation of his favourite drink, the Martini dry. (Florian Widegger)
