Lala

Lala, Samanta, and Zaga—three young Roma women—strive for recognition in Italy, a country that denies them citizenship despite their birth on its soil. Lala, a teenage mother, navigates the delicate balance between family traditions and the demands of urban life. Her character intertwines with Samanta, the non-professional actress who portrays her, and with Zaga, the real-life inspiration behind the story. Blurring the lines between reality and fiction, the film becomes a manifesto, amplifying the voices of a marginalized Roma generation and capturing their shared struggles and hopes in the face of denied rights.

Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion with director Ludovica Fales, hosted by the European Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA).
