After the death of her husband, the sprightly Madame Bertini dares to make a fresh start. She wants to enjoy the simple pleasures. Without further ado, she buys a car and drives to the seaside with her two friends, the waitress Rosalie and the shoemaker Alphonse - much to the displeasure of her well-behaved bourgeois sons ... The story of a woman who becomes curious about her life in old age and thus triggers envy and jealousy in those around her.
