Year1961

Duration105min.

When a mutilated female corpse is fished out of a murky canal, the police begin their investigation - modern, methodical, successful. One of the most unconventional films of those years worldwide: a mixture of documentary film (with propagandistic undertones) and experimental description of modern life as neurosis. Anchored in a true-crime radio show of the late 1950s, the film captivates with its commentary, which is extremely typical of the time in its choice of words and linguistic gestures and which really runs through every second. Alongside this: Images of a Mexico City caught between the dawn of a better modern age and the dreariness of eternal oppression, countered by abstract-surrealist collages and landscapes of the soul. A film like nothing you've ever seen before!
