In the near future, violence and wars will be a thing of the past. Instead, there is the ‘Great Hunt’, a game in which the computer randomly selects five hunters and victims. Whoever survives ten rounds (against all odds) will win fame and money. The American Caroline is about to reach the final. Her final victim is the Italian playboy Marcello, whom she meets as a sex researcher with a television crew attached ... Once again, Mastroianni, who has gone blonde for this futuristic political pop art thriller, proves that it is almost impossible to resist his charm - on and off the screen. With a catchy soundtrack, gaudy costumes and the usual ambiguous staging, the smart Petri realises the quasi-birth of reality TV: stylish 1960s cult. (Florian Widegger)
