Kurzfilmprogramm: Porträts und Landschaften

FromVOLKER KOEPP

Year1973

Duration111min.

In 1970, as a member of the ‘document’ group, Volker Koepp began making short documentary films for DEFA. His first works already reveal the themes that would determine his artistic life: the landscapes of Brandenburg and Prussia and the history(ies) of the people who live there. The sensitively designed portrait of the 80-year-old former brick worker Gustav J. is the starting signal for this. In TAG FÜR TAG and HAUS UND HOF, the focus is unusually on young women who are torn between political reality and their personal convictions and deal with them relatively openly. IN RHEINSBERG examines the connections between landscape and architecture, past and present, based on conversations with city dwellers.
