With each film, it seems, we can witness the changes in Bauer-Zierfuß' relationship to her parents, to herself and to society. In WAS EINE FAMILIE LEISTEN KANN she reflects on the ‘performance’ of the family based on the traumas experienced. Separations can be healing. In COSMO(S), the director then turns her attention to the eponymous person who has become the family of choice at her side. Calm black-and-white images with Bauer-Zierfuß' voiceover write a cinematic love letter.
