Kurische Nehrung

The longest sandy beach in Eastern Europe stretches almost 100 kilometres across a spit of land, the northern part of which belongs to Lithuania, the southern part to Russia, and which was discovered by painters, writers and travellers in the 19th century. Politics has done a lot of damage to this place and its inhabitants, whose defiant optimism Koepp captures in his own open manner. (Florian Widegger)
