Western architecture meets Indian lifestyle. A portrait of the 70th anniversary of Le Corbusier's planned city.

70 years ago, the architect Le Corbusier completed his life's work with the Indian planned city of Chandigarh. With all its light and dark sides, the megacity is considered a controversial work of art. The documentary film accompanies four Indian artists from Chandigarh and reflects with them on this utopia of modernity. Le Corbusier's concept offered the residents a new kind of living space in which they could develop in contrast to the Western capitalist-influenced construction methods.

"Power of Utopia - Living with Le Corbusier in Chandigarh" by Swiss filmmakers Karin Bucher and Thomas Karrer ("Zwischenwelten") tells the story and legacy of an avant-garde vision. The film sheds light on a diverse India from a European perspective and explores the questions: How intertwined is our society really with architecture and what can we learn from Chandigarh today?
