Kino im Kopf

FromMichael Glawogger

Year1996

Duration87min.

The experimental set-up: Glawogger asks for film ideas and scripts for his project Kino im Kopf. Some selected scenes are to be filmed. What an opportunity! The selection brings a wild mixture of genres: couple constellations (original), splatters (bloody), S/M between women (violent!), cannibalism (lustful), surrealism (beyond). Some scenes are filmed. But if you look at the film as a whole, the feature film scenes are only fragments of a more complex constellation. The authors and the one (!) female author are portrayed while narrating their head films. How do they present their ideas? Seriously, self-critically, cool? How do the individuals allow themselves to be confronted with these guidelines, with this unique situation: "I can do anything, no censorship, no objections". How is this freedom of possibilities reflected in the content and attitude of the "chosen ones"? What is film for me? What risks am I prepared to take? Anything goes. Really? (Birgit Flos)
