Khers nist (NO BEARS)
In order to shoot a new film despite being banned from working, Panahi retreats to a remote village near the Iranian-Turkish border. From there, he attempts to direct the filming via a shaky internet connection. The film is about a couple who want to leave Iran. However, a seemingly harmless photo brings the filmmaker into conflict with the villagers... NO BEARS intertwines several levels of observation and staging, reality and fiction, and consistently expands Panahi's cinema despite external restrictions. Escape, borders and image control become central motifs of this film about filmmaking itself: about responsibility and intervention, looking away and questioning. Shortly before the premiere, Panahi is arrested again.
