No Bears

Every film by Iranian director Jafar Panahi is a small miracle. Despite being banned from his profession and imprisoned, he manages to produce independent films. KHERS NIST is another formally cleverly conceived film about social stagnation that reflects impressively on the possibilities and dangers of its own images. Although he had every reason to do so, this is not an angry film. In his last work for the time being, Panahi is surprisingly self-critical and takes a thoughtful look at his own responsibility as a filmmaker.
