The documentary looks at political and social developments in Germany: a growing right-wing populism is shaping the discourse.

Europe is putting up walls – in the midst of a humanitarian catastrophe. The documentary KEIN LAND FÜR NIEMAND – ABSCHOTTUNG EINES EINWANDERUNGSLANDS (No Country for Anyone – The Isolation of an Immigration Country) highlights the drastic consequences of Europe's isolationist policy and Germany's role in this paradigm shift.

The film accompanies a rescue mission in the Mediterranean, shows the catastrophic conditions in refugee camps, and gives a voice to people who have survived the life-threatening journey to Europe. At the same time, the film looks at political and social developments in Germany: a growing right-wing populism is shaping the discourse. Flight and migration are increasingly being criminalized, and humanitarian aid is coming under pressure.

Germany repeatedly sets the pace here, and Europe follows suit. Through exclusive interviews with scientists, political decision-makers, and activists, KEIN LAND FÜR NIEMAND questions the current narratives about flight and migration and sheds light on the mechanisms by which fear and populism determine the political agenda. How did it come to this? And what alternatives are there to a Europe that is increasingly closing itself off?
