Katharina, die Letzte
This comedy, shot in 1935 at the Tobis-Sascha studios in Vienna's Rosenhügel district, is one of the last émigré film productions made in Austria that was realised independently of anti-Semitic Nazi regulations. Today, it is considered a highlight of ‘undesirable cinema’. Morgan plays the grumpy and bitter servant Stephan, who gives the naive but kind-hearted maid Katharina a hard time. Alongside him are three other audience favourites who were driven out of Germany by Nazi politics: Franziska Gaál, Otto Wallburg and Ernő (Ernst) Verebes. Paul Morgan's long and extensive film career was forcibly ended after this film due to Nazi politics.
