Julie – eine Frau gibt nicht auf

A woman under pressure. After separating from her husband, Julie moved to a Paris suburb where she looks after her two children on her own. Every day she takes them to an elderly nanny and then travels to Paris, where she has a stressful job as a chambermaid in a luxury hotel. When a strike breaks out, public transport is constantly cancelled, which makes commuting between home and work much more difficult. When Julie also applies for another job in the city, she gets caught up in a marathon between parental care and trouble shooting, which pushes her to the edge of her strength and jeopardises her professional and private existence.

Eric Gravel won the directing prize in the ‘Orizzonti’ section in Venice for his fast-paced second feature film, while lead actress Laure Calamy was honoured as best actress in the same section.
