Joyland

In the heart of the metropolis of Lahore - urban yet conservative - lives the Rana family, not poor but not rich either, with the old patriarchal head of the family, the elder son, his pregnant wife, three daughters and the youngest son Haider with his wife Mumtaz. The family fervently hopes for a male progenitor who 'can' continue the family tradition, while Haider secretly takes a job as a backing dancer in an erotic theatre. There he meets the fascinating trans dancer Biba, whose hypnotic vitality makes him melt away. Slowly and yet suddenly, Haider and Biba become entangled in a summer romance, Biba gradually takes over his house, bringing to light the long-simmering conflict between desire and patriarchal morality in Haider's family.
