John Neumeier – Ein Leben für den Tanz

After more than 50 years as ballet director, choreographer John Neumeier will bid farewell to the Hamburg Ballet in summer 2024, which he has intensively shaped with his neoclassical, mostly full-length ballets - from large-scale narrative ballets based on literary works to choreographies set to sacred music. DANCE MOVIES pays tribute to the dance artist, who is one of the greatest choreographers of our time, with a film matinee and shows the new documentary John Neumeier - A Life for Dance as an Austrian premiere. Andreas Morell paints the portrait of a great dancer, a wonderful teacher, a man deeply rooted in art and religion, he takes us back to the roots of his art and provides insights into John Neumeier's current artistic work. The Vienna State Ballet will be showing John Neumeier's masterpiece The Lady of the Camellias from March 24.
