Jeanne du Barry

Jeanne Vaubernier (Maïwenn), an ambitious and socially aspiring bourgeois, skilfully uses her beguiling charms to escape her humble circumstances. Her lover, the wealthy Count du Barry, who profits considerably from Jeanne's lucrative amorous adventures, wants to introduce her to the king. He arranges a meeting through the influential Duke de Richelieu (Pierre Richard). The meeting far exceeds his expectations: Louis XV (Johnny Depp) and Jeanne not only fall in passionate love at first sight, but a deep affection develops that is to last until death. With the enchanting courtesan at his side, the king finds the joy of life again - so much so that he can no longer be without her and decides to make her his official favourite. Jeanne moves to Versailles against all rules of propriety and etiquette, where her arrival throws the entire court into turmoil.
