Intolerable Cruelty

Charming, smooth and dangerous, this romantic screwball comedy is tailor-made to perfection. George Clooney plays divorce lawyer Miles Massey, while Catherine Zeta-Jones counters as Marylin Rexroth with perfect timing. The Coens stage the duel as a dance on the legal stage – fast-paced, pointed, malicious. For the first time, the screenplay is not written solely by the brothers, and yet it is entirely their pace – and the humour remains razor-sharp.
