February 1934 and its treatment in Austrofascist propaganda. The newsreel ÖSTERREICH IN BILD UND TON, which was produced between 1933 and 1938 with the aim of conveying Catholic values and legitimising the system, plays an important role here. The impending "Anschluss" to Nazi Germany was already in the air. The civil war appears here as a bloody revolt of "Marxism", against which the government acts in self-defence, and Dollfuß is stylised as a Christian martyr, especially after his assassination.
