The story of a few days in the life of Cathryn (Susannah York), children's book author and wife of wealthy horse man Hugh (Altman alumni Rene Auberjonois). She is caught in a web of sexual guilt as she hallucinates about interactions with two men. One a deceased Frenchman with whom she cheated years ago, who seems to mock her with his constant appearances. The other man is much more real and in fact much more unpleasant. A neighbour who believes he is the dream of her rape fantasies come true. The resulting horror is rarely explicit and probably never happens on screen. But certainly in our heads.
