Im Wasser
A young actor decides to give up acting and make his own short film. The small film crew, which only includes him, the cameraman and the leading actress, sets off for the rocky, windswept island of Jeju. In search of a film idea, he explores the surroundings, waits for the right lighting conditions and observes the horizon from the coast. One day, he catches sight of a figure among the rocks at the foot of a cliff that piques his interest. He takes the plunge into the cold water and exchanges a few words with her. This conversation and a love song written years ago ensure that he finally has a story to tell.
Hong Sangsoo presents his most personal and poetic film to date. Each individual image is carefully composed like an impressionist painting. The result is an aquarium that you would just love to sink into.
